This week, the fourth graders learned about September 11th, focusing on the heroes of that day and how we remember them. They read Saved by the Boats30,000 Stitches, and This Very Tree, learning about the heroic boat evacuation, the restoration of the American flag, and the Survivor Tree. They watched videos about the 9/11 Memorial and created their own version of the “Trying to Remember the Color of the Sky” installation, writing ways to help others during difficult times. On September 11th, they visited the local firehouse to thank the firefighters and participate in a special ceremony.
