On Sunday, we witnessed a truly special moment—a beautiful act of chesed from the Heber family to honor Arlene Ditchek, z”l. Arlene, a beloved librarian and educator, brought stories to life and inspired countless students to love learning. In her memory, the Heber family generously dedicated the space she cherished most, now named the Arlene Ditchek Literacy Development Hallway. This dedication continues a remarkable story of kindness. Years ago, after the tragic passing of Rabbi Yossi Heber, z”l, Arlene and her husband, Norman, supported the Heber family through their most difficult times, becoming second parents to their children. That extraordinary act of kindness led to this touching moment—a story of chesed spanning generations and highlighting the incredible bonds within our Hebrew Academy community. May Arlene’s neshama have an aliyah, and may her memory continue to be a blessing. Thank you to the Heber family for this meaningful dedication and for inspiring us all with your kindness and generosity.
