On Wednesday, our Kindergarten and First Grade students had the pleasure of meeting author Kentrell Martin, who introduced them to the world of American Sign Language (ASL) through his Shelly’s Adventures series. In the books, Shelly teaches her friends ASL to communicate with her deaf father—and our students got to join in the fun! They learned the alphabet, numbers up to 15, colors, animals, the word “awesome,” and so much more. The best part? Practicing their new skills with each other!
