The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that promote children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. The educator must have knowledge and experience in early childhood education, Judaic studies, and be able to work collaboratively as a team member.

Responsibilities:

• Provide supervision, safety, and well-being for the children.
• Use developmentally appropriate teaching to recognize and respond to each child’s needs.
• Plan, prepare, and implement stimulating and age-appropriate activities.
• Maintain open communication with the Administrator and co-workers.
• Ensure compliance with DCF standards.
• Organize space, equipment, and materials in the classroom according to STEAM philosophy.
• Complete child transition and orientation of the classroom with parents.
• Maintain ongoing communication with parents/caregivers.
• Encourage parent participation in the classroom environment.
• Plan periodic parent conferences to discuss children’s progress and interests.
• Report all accidents, injuries, and illnesses to the nurse/administrator and record such incidents in the observation log.
• Assure a healthy, safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
• Assist with functioning and monitoring of nutrition and food service.
• Attend to children’s physical needs for toileting, diapering, eating, and sleeping.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Avoid the use of cell phones.
• Attend regular staff meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the school’s children, their parents, and staff.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with all staff members.
• Act as a role model of appropriate behavior.
• Be energetic, resilient and maintain a sense of humor.
• Maintain timely and accurate files, including student observations and other documentations.
• Ability to present units in Hebrew.
• Knowledgeable of Judaic Studies, Parashiot Hashavua, and Chagim.
• Fluency in Hebrew and experience teaching Early Childhood Judaic Studies/Hebrew Language.
• Excellent classroom management, differentiated instruction skills, and organization skills.
• Be a team player and proficient with instructional technology.
• Flexibility and ability to work within a demanding environment.
• Experience teaching Judaic Studies in an orthodox environment.
• Experience teaching in an early childhood classroom.

Requirements:

• Early child development knowledge and experience.
• Knowledge in Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
• Knowledge of State Program Requirements for Early Childhood Programs.
• Ability to use the computer to input developmental data.
• Ability to use a smart board, iPads, and any other technological device.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40-pound child.

Physical and Emotional Requirements:

• Often required and able to stand, sit on the floor, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, or crawl.
