This past Sunday, we proudly opened the doors to the new Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Family Building, home to the Joseph Markovitz High School and the Charlotte Rohr Middle School. The day began with a special ceremony in our auditorium, where over 400 guests gathered to celebrate. Dr. Kalman Stein, Head of School, and Jean Kim-Lehmann, Hebrew Academy Board President, shared inspiring words. Mayor of Miami Beach Dan Gelber declared September 10th as Hebrew Academy Day, recognizing the historic moment for our school. Commissioner Steven Meiner praised our institution’s impact on the Jewish community in Miami Beach and beyond. High School Student Council President, Shalev Bachar (’24), expressed his excitement, emphasizing his family’s generational connection to the school. After the ceremony, we danced and celebrated with Sifrei Torah, including one donated by the Kavana Family for the new Fancy and Jimmy Saka Beit Midrash. Thank you all for being part of this memorable day. Let’s look forward to a bright future of learning and growth in our beautiful new home! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous donors whose unwavering commitment to Hebrew Academy and its future has made this Capital Campaign project possible.
