They had a fun-filled frog-themed Leap Day! First, they discussed why we have leap days and related it to the science unit and the calendar. Students also spoke about how it is also a Jewish leap year. Then students started the frog fun by learning about red-eyed tree frogs or poison dart frogs and creating mini dioramas. In math, students played a game about multiples of unit fractions where cute frog pieces tried to take over different lily pads. Students also filled out time capsule packets about themselves. We ended the day by making origami jumping frogs and having a frog-themed snack. It was a day students will hopefully remember in 4 years, the next leap year when they’re in 8th grade!
